A computer for quiet air
Notes toward a small flight computer. Nothing here has been flight-tested.

This is a sample essay, written to show how the journal reads. It is not a record of a real flight, service, shift, or finished project.
The idea is a low-cost flight computer for gliding, built around a Raspberry Pi. It would know where it is, how high it is, whether the air is going up or down, and enough about the task to be a calm companion rather than another alarm.
None of that has been proven in an aircraft. This is a design note, not a test report.
What it should notice
- Position, from a sensible GPS.
- Pressure altitude.
- A variometer, so a climb is visible before it is obvious.
- A simple moving map.
- Later, a way to remember where thermals have been.
The software should be boring in the air. Boring is readable at a glance. Clever can wait until the aircraft is back on the ground.

If the project grows up, the progress will be written on the project page, with photographs of the actual board. Until then, treat every number on this page as fiction.
